THE RICHARDS & COLEMAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION (RCFA) AND HOW
THE FAMILY TREE GREW ROOTS IN LIBERIA
The
Richards and Coleman Family Association is a social organization
registered in the State of Maryland in September 1999, to unite
and keep the Richards and Coleman family ties alive and in particular,
to be able to know each other and render assistance whenever possible.
Our
Family Genealogy, at this time, originates with Othello Richards
and President William D. Coleman, both of whom migrated to Liberia
from the United States of America in the 1800's. Othello Richards
had six children and President Coleman had 10 children from whom
the
Richards and Coleman families of Liberia take their roots.
These
families settled on the west bank of the St. Paul River, in Clay
Ashland, Montserrado County. Members of both families became prominent
citizens of the Republic of Liberia and served in various seats
of the government and as private citizens.
The
Richards and Coleman families became interconnected through the
marriages of several members from both families. Those marriages
spawned common cousins and other closer relatives. These families
have continued to grow and prosper, and the reuniting of the Richards
and Coleman families is with the intent to keep our family ties
strong. We have a noble heritage to perpetuate.
ANNUAL
MEMBERSHIP DUES/TRUST FUND
All
checks/money orders issued should be made out to and sent to The
Richards &
Coleman Family Association, P. O. Box 2293, Montgomery Village,
MD 20886.
It is through these donations that the Richards & Coleman
Family Association is
able to function and assist those in need when the time arises.
As
stipulated in our By-laws and Constitution adopted in July 1999,
every
participating family member aged 25 and above is expected to pay
annual dues of
$25.00 each to the Richards & Coleman Family Association.
To that end, this is a
reminder for us to get caught up on our annual dues, remembering
to pay for the past
years due.
